Hello November Bliss companions,
I’m so pelased to have your company in this year’s November Bliss - 30 days of tenderness and soulful self nurture.
For 2020 I've made it more restful than ever so that we can use the time of quiet and slowing down to tune inwards and take the opportunity in this hush, to hear the small quiet voice of our own innate wisdom.
This has been a year of following orders and waiting for further instructions. Trusting leaders and specialists to find a path for us and a safe way forward. A year of having the ground shift under us and a sense that we woke up one morning ‘with a feeling we weren’t in Kansas anymore’.
But now it’s your turn to take control, find your own voice, trust your own feelings and move day by day, intuitively through the month ahead, gifting yourself time to breathe, rest, heal and restore.
Each day I will send you your restful exercise for the day ahead. You’ll have an opportunity to tune into and focus on some aspect of your being and know that emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually, socially, sensory or creatively you are paying attention to the messages each part of your being is sending to you now that it has your attention.
On some occasions you may feel that rest is to become inactive and on others it will be to be more conscious or mindful and still others it may be to become more active. You will know, with greater and greater confidence as we progress, what it is your inner voice is telling you to give your attention to.
You’re the boss.
This is your mind, your body and your soul and only you will know what each needs so that you can align all the strands of your being and by December 1st you’ll feel more alert, vibrant, contented and in love with your whole life.
You are literally pulling body and soul together.
So let’s begin.
Spend a little time today preparing your world for the time of rest to follow. Here are some of the add-on exercises I often choose to undertake over the month. You can choose your own.
I find it’s a good idea to get in things such as nuts, fruit, seeds, muesli, yogurt or smoothie ingredients to help you begin on day one as you mean to continue focussing on a healthy, restful diet.
Have a November Bliss notebook and use it to journal, write affirmations, quotes that strike you as memorable, your gratitude list and to write down your ideas and creative inspiration along with healthful recipes etc. that we come across together on our restful journey. Keep it beside your bed at night so that you can make a note of any dreams, symbols or messages you receive as you sleep. This is Magical rest remember, who know what dreams may come…….
We’ll get together once a week by zoom - and if you miss it I’ll send you on any links or details shared by your fellow bliss companions.
Consider the following brief outline of different areas of rest and how you are affected by the need to pause and slow down.
Physical Rest - more sleep, breathe, good nutrition, exercise and body movement. Healing.
Mental Rest- step back from news and politics. Information overload.
Emotional Rest – time to speak up, share the burden, take off the mask, be yourself.
Spiritual Rest – desire more wonder, meaning and joy, a sense of connection.
Sensory Rest – sensory overload needing sweeter, creamier, spicier to taste. Everything is bland.
Social Rest- desire for meaningful relationships and encounters , being hugged and held and being thoughtfully included.
Creative Rest – A desire to feel inspired and fired-up. To be curious, find new adventures and means of expression.
Finally, tonight as you fall asleep, think about how you want to feel at the end of this month. Open your November Bliss notebook and write it down. You might use one word such as Alive or a whole sentence such as As though I’m swimming with dolphins in a warm, blue lagoon.
